Apart
from all the eyes staring at me as I walk into the classroom; I see pencils squiggling
onto paper. As they are writing away, I am
thinking, “What is the topic and what do I write about? What thoughts/ideas were supposed to escape
on this piece of paper?” I do not know
exactly but what I do know is that my mind was preoccupied with another
subject. Mostly with confusion suffocating
my head, I was able to write about a topic.
After several minutes going by, Mr. Sweeney would repeat the same
question over and over again, “If you think you are done… think about this, Why
and what did I leave out and jot it down.” Although the repetition was helpful, I was in
my own world writing down anything and everything that came to mind. My paper was filled by the time class was
over. This exercise/activity cleared my
head for a little bit and helped me get through my day. This was probably one of the best activities
we have done so far. I did not have to
do anything but sit and think.
Sometimes it is good to get the things on your mind out. Hopefully we will have this activity
again.

Thoughts.......
This
all begins with last night. While my
roomie and I were watching the Grammies we were also occupied with finishing
our rough draft for English. The rough
draft was due the very next day; meaning we had an all-nighter. You can imagine what we felt like after being
awake until two in the morning. Being in
class was a drag; strolling in with our assignments in our hand. As we sit, Mr. Sweeney tells us to get into
our grammar schmammar groups. We
separate and find our partners and he starts explaining what it is we do with
our essays. He announced that we present
our essay to our groups and gather feed-back from one another. As the speaker reads their essay, the other
members gather information and give assistance for the speaker. Well, Mr. Sweeney was invited into our group
for his advice and intelligence. He
brought up worthy arguments and recommendations to help us become unique and respectable
writers. As he inputted his opinion, all
of our thoughts and ideas were spilling out into words. After several ideas time was up and it was
time to go. Class might have been over
but my mind was flowing with thoughts and suggestions on what else to write
about in my essay.

Blogs???
Today in class, group three was scheduled to present their grammar shmammar. They were discussing the difference between “They’re, Their, and There”. I do not know how people could get these three simple words mixed up. I am not complaining; the clarification is beneficial to others and for others it is just another simple day. In addition to this stress-free class, we were asked what we really thought about blogs. Well, I did not do a lot of thinking but wrote something down that I thought was short and sweet. What I really think about these blogs is that they are helpful in some ways of writing, socializing, and getting to know people and their views or beliefs. What I do not approve of is that we have to do this weekly. Why can’t we compromise and type blogs every other week? For some people, they do not have time or they have other important stuff to do. For example: Studying for a huge test the next day or may have quizzes and test every day that week. It is hard sometimes to keep up and remember how many posts or comments you have left. We should talk about this in class and see what Mr. Sweeney thinks. The worst reply you can get is a no. What is the harm in asking?

Feelings
Due to being ill, returning to class made me feel one
hundred percent better. Listening and
watching Mr. Sweeney bring life to the classroom brought me happiness and
laughter. His witty comments and
hysterical actions opened my eyes wider.
I was the happy-go-lucky child in the family; no matter what situation a
smile was imprinted on my face at all times.
Lately, my mood and happiness has been lost. My feelings are never the constant anymore. I guess it is me as a young adult blooming
into a woman or realizing this is a cruel world that we live in; but who really
knows? In this life we cannot go back
and change time. We have to stick with
what we made ourselves out to be and move forward from there. Do not be the person that everybody is
stereotyping or is acknowledging you by.
Be unique and build a new you. I
see little toddlers and children not worried about what anybody thinks or
perceives them to be. We all have our childhood moments and memories to look
back on and I guess that is why I always see Mr. Sweeney with a smile and a
positive attitude. His courageous
personality tells me he does not worry or have a care in the world about other
people’s perception.

Class today....
Being the third day of class, getting to know more
about my classmates today was fun. I didn't know there could be so many
disagreements on just a few topics. Sexuality has several argumentative
points concerning homosexuals and the government. Another point was
added today about whether being homosexual was caused by the household
environment or if they knew from the start. Those are some pretty valid
points and interesting. I would like to hear other opinions on this topic
and whether it will change views or their beliefs. An additional idea for
this topic would be birth control. Do you think females should be on
birth control and be safe about their sex life or have an unplanned pregnancy?
Any who, I was just finally glad to see all of us agree on one topic.
On the other hand, we still need two more topics and Mr. Sweeney
suggested that it would be helpful if we jot down some ideas. My roomy
and I decide to be brave and write down the ideas on the board to see which
topics out-weighed another. From what I saw Environment and Crime and
Punishment were the two best decisions to choose from but of course there was
somebody who thought differently. Environment had multiple choices to
discuss from, although, one other person thought they would run out of things
to write about. One thing that always helped me was to use several
sources. They are helpful in your thinking process and are some handy
dandy facts. At first I was skeptical on writing about Crime and
Punishment but when writing down some ideas helped me realize that it's not as
awful as I made it out to be. By the end of class, we still did not
figure out our second or third essay. Hopefully, class tomorrow we will
have figured it out by then.
